2005
Still, the format was not USPS approved and might take years and literally an act of Congress to be endorsed. Al Smith of the USPS immediately saw the revenue potential of the ON-CARD and proposed partnering with the USPS to bring the idea to life. The postal testing was rigorous and led to its approval in 2007 by the USPS
2004
Intelecard spins off ON-CARD, Inc. a Delaware company incorporated to capitalize on the new invention also named ON-CARD. Funding is secured in July 2004.
2002
Approaching postcard companies to glue his “activation required” gift card to the front of a post card was fruitless. Looking for a solution, Kirk invented the credit card thick postcard with a pop-out wallet-card.
2001
Intelecard beta tests the “activation required” approach across several of its national customers with some success. Recognizing the need to break out of the envelope (putting the phone card / gift card front and center) Kirk then had the idea to put the “gift” on a postcard as a direct mail solution.
1999
The US Census Bureau contracts Intelecard to create phone cards with “activation required” feature. This campaign successfully motivated people in rural locations to phone in or go on-line and complete the census.
1995
Kirk Joseph incorporates Intelecard Resources to pioneer the use of phone cards as promotional gifts under the brand name Telecard
